Has anyone been charged for taking a folder or dissembled airnimal in a
standard, underweight suitcase on a flight?
I shall be going with easyjet .
I cannot see why they would charge, or how they could know the
difference between some bike parts and a complete bike inside the
suitcase.I considered putting some bits in the hand luggage to make
that point, but hoping it's not necessary.There is a thread from 1997
saying ryanair did extort money in this way.

TerryJTaken my Bike Friday on lots of trips without problems. Ryanair will
now charge you because it's checked baggage period and lots of US
airlines have been known to charge, irrespective of it being in a suitcase.--

Customer service policy at east midlands airport baggage handlers seems
to consist of not answering the phone at all.The easyjet site has a faq
but no offer of actual contact so far as I have found.I shall of course
try harder.

TJWell I filled in a webform for enquiries and learned that I can expect
a reply within
20days(!), unless whoever reads it does not think this was the right
form, in which case there will be no reply at all!They must be having a laugh.
The system is designed to not provide any service apparently.They must
have too many customers.

I put a folding Dahon in its Airporter suitcase on my trip to Prague in
April, and was charged 50 Euros overweight on the trip out and 80 euros
overweight on the trip back. That made Flyzipper's trip more expensive
than my own. That said, the suitcase _was_ overweight and oversize,
which you say will not be the case with you.Good luck

flights (4 weeks after giving up and taking a photo driving licence)
IMX they will do anything to stop you getting on; especially if you
haven't paid the bike fare, but if it fits on their standard baggage
conveyor I don't know how they can charge for it.
I was astounded as how little more it was to fly BA (with sparkling
service re bike carriage); and shall investigate this next time
