  1. I haven't made caramel or ice cream for 20 years but I'm about to try.

Does boiling a can of sweetened condensed milk for 30 minutes sound OK for
    caramel?

I'm planning on making the ice cream by hand using regular milk and a can of
evaporated milk. I'll probably mix/aerate it with an electric whish after a
    few hours in the freezer.

Tell me how this goes, I like the sound of it but can it really be this
easy? I thought that the caramel needed to be condensed milk and boiled for
    at least an hour?

I saw a recipe once for home made caramel corn ice cream ... it sounds
wonderful! It had caramel and corn.
I have never been able to find it again. I saw it in a magazine while I was
    at an appointment or something.
Good luck w/ your ice cream ... sounds good to me!

Nah. An hour sounds better. Make sure the can is well covered with
wate at all times, and that you don't open it until it's really cold,
    preferably the next day.
