  1. I have a 24" Torker DX. The Ottawa Tour Nortel is comming up. The
shortest distance is a 12km bike/rollerblade. Think that 12km is doable
on a 24" muni in a few hours? Anyone in Ottawa want to lend me a 29er
😉 ? I guess I would have to talk to the organisers to ask if it was
alright, but they will probably say yes. The terrain will mostly be
road, probably with a little bit of gravel.

    What do you think?

  3. I know I could easily to 12 km on my 24" in a few hours, almost
certainly in less than two. You shouldn't have any problems as far as I
    can see.

people to do it with, and if I can afford it.

Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total
obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and
through me. And when it has gone past, I will turn the inner eye to see
its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will
    remain.

  11. That sort of distance is easy on a 24. Might be a little harder if you
have great big long MUni cranks and a big fat squidgy Muni tyre, but it
should be easily doable in an hour or slightly more.

Could you tell a wise man by the way he speaks or spells?
Is this more important than the stories that he tells,
And call a man a fool, if for wealth he doesn't strive?

  13. For the benefit of American and British readers 12km is nearly 7.5
miles. I rode half a mile short of that distance today; I was so "not
tired" at the end of my 3.5 mile park ride that when I got to the
finish, I rode straight past my car and took a second lap.

I did about seven miles (or 11.2km) in 1 hour 20 minutes, twice the
distance of anything I've done previously. Amazingly I was still "not
tired" when I saw my car again, but due to other commitments I had no
time to take a third lap. Maybe next time...

On my Muni, the cranks are only 150mm and the tyre is only a 2.6" Kenda
Kinetics, so there are tiny optimisations to favour distance as opposed
    to super technical terrain.

The only issue I had was on the finishing straight of the second lap, a
certain part of my body that a saddle is made for began to feel red
hot. I had to stand up for a bit...

  15. Got some short cranks for it and you will be fine. I got a pair of 90mm
on my 24" Nimbus. For me that don´t have a coker, it feels really fast.

  16. Bah, I run a 24" muni with 165mm cranks, and it's not that bad. Of
course, Quebec rodes make it like muni anyways... 😉
