Zabriski. Total no-brainer.
Danielson still hasn't shown he can do much of anything in Europe yet.
Sure, he won Langkwai and Georgia, but in Europe he seems to get lost
between the back of the pack and the front. And mostly at the back.
It's going to be rather difficult to be the next great American stage
racer if he doesn't finish a grand tour sooner rather than later. I
can't escape the feeling that he's been just a bit overrated.

Zabriski has two stage wins, and a fifth at worlds in the TT. He's also
finished the Vuelta at least twice, and seems to know his way around the
pack. And he's damn funny. That has to count for something.

You're forcing me to choose between my two favorite American riders.
That's tough. The intriguing thing about both of them is that they
don't really fit any existing forms. Even their personalities are
strange, kind of MTV in a way. Like they fell off the extreme-sports
show and landed in Europe...

I can't choose between them, but I have to favor Zabriskie for coming to
Morgan Hill and riding off the front, WITHIN SIGHT of the Health Net-led
bunch, for the entire race.
