  1. I've got a million excuses. My squat form has been off this whole
training cycle. I've been working 60 and 70 hour weeks lately and I
was sick twice in the last month. Plus, I only got 2 hours of sleep
the night before the meet and only 5 the night before that. On top of
that, my Centurion is so stretched out that it took me about 30
seconds to get it on Saturday.

I weighed in at 8:15 AM Saturday morning at 219.75 pounds. I felt
totally wiped out like I was getting sick but I went through the
motions anyway. I was really debating whether I should skip the meet
or not. Anywho, I gave them my openers of 490 in the squat, 325 in
the bench and 457 in the deadlift.

On the way down on my first squat, something weird happened (like what
has happened to me on deadlift where I lose all control...syncope) and
got buried by the weight at the bottom when my balance was thrown way
off. I did something to my lower back that is still hurting as I type
this. I then took the same weight of 490 for my second and got 2 out
of 3 whites. I was called for depth for the first time ever. Talking
to my guys, they asked me what I thought I had in me for my third and
I said, "not much". I opted for 518. I took that out and dropped
down and on the way up, helicoptered the weight and was told that it
dropped on the left side. It felt really weird like someone had
grabbed the weight on that side but no one did. I only got one white
    for no lift.

In the bench, I figured I had better drop my opener so I opened at
319.5. It went up no problem but felt heavier than it should. I then
went to 330 for my second and the same thing, heavier than it should
but no problem for another 3 whites. My training partners are now
asking me what to do for my third. We decide on 341.5. I got that as
close as one can without completing the lift. I was very
    disappointed.

I dropped my deadlift opener to 451. I pulled that easy. We decided
to 474 for my second although I was thinking of doing 480 which is my
contest best. I did that and Todd and Keith tell me I've got at least
another 15 in me so we go with 490 for my third. I don't know what
happened there as I got it a couple of inches off the ground and just
    quit.

So, I ended up totalling 587.5 kilos which is 1295 pounds. I was
hoping for a 1400 pound total or at least besting my 600 kilo (1323
pound) total from the TCO last summer. But, I finally got my squat
form figured out and did hit a pr in the bench. I'm so [censored] at my
performance that it should hopefully drive me to train that much
harder for Masters Nationals in Palm Springs this May.

So, in short, your body wasn't in top condition and your lifts reflect
that? Quel suprise. Seriously, these things are related. Next time
will be better... if you don't get sick and get enough sleep.

But good job for showing up and trying.

Thanks for the kind words Ms. Anonymous:-) BTW, I feel like my body
has been fed through a meat grinder. I never even got sore after the
    TCO.

  4. Where was the meet?

Been there. You weren't ready and [censored] happens. Accept that conditions
and timing weren't right and move on. Prepare for the next round.

  8. I figured it had to have been in the Metro somewhere. Not that I'm in any
    shape to compete anymore.

Sure, go do shrugs, but get enough rest for next time 😉

Just more incentive to come back with a vengeance. I'm 8 wks out, and
    hope all goes smoothly.
