1. I am new to road bikes and havent biked since i was a kid. i wanted to start cycling for fitness and to lose weight. well, anyway did i make a wise choice for my first "real" bike. I bought an 06 lemond tourmalet.

    Tires Bontrager Select, 700 x 25c

    Crankset Bontrager Race

    Chainwheel 53/39

    Front Derailleur Shimano 105

    Rear Derailleur Shimano Ultegra

    Rear Cogs SRAM PG-950, 9-speed: 11-26

    Shifters Shimano 105 STI

    Handlebars Bontrager Select, 31.8mm

    Stem Bontrager Select

    Brakes Cane Creek SC3

    Saddle Bontrager Race

i got it at what i thought was a great deal at 839.99. so is this a good first bike? did i make a good choice?

    if not . . . . too late.

    thanks

    TC,

Sounds like a good deal to me. In fact, for a first bike, it sounds like a heck of a good deal.

Sounds like an excellent bike that, if it fits and is comfortable, should take you well beyond "beginner" to "serious", "fanatic", "racer" if/when that happens.

  4. I owned the model below this one - excellent choice and sounds as though you got a good deal.

105 is good stuff and will last a long time.

    Welcome to the road.

I just recommended the same bike to my brother except his came as a 10spd as it was built late in 06. Either way, a great bicycle. You won't be dissapointed. If you decide to move up later, this will be a great bad weather bike. No rust with aluminum frame. You should also like the geometry of that bike.

the price was right too. that's a discount off of last year's bike.

  6. Thanks for all the response. its greatly appreciated. the bike rides like a dream, everything works amazingly smooth and fast, and i cant believe how light the bike is. i look forward to many many miles yet to come.

    thanks again
