message that says cannot send to channel. I use to use irc a

Nope. Nothing special required. /server irc.undernet.org
/join #diabetic-talk should work. People from all over the
world have been coming and going all evening. You might
    want to check diabetic-talk.orgchatroom.htm for
    more info.

  3. Jim, I have tried everything read all the pages even
registered at the undernet I am really upset I have been
there 3 times tonight and even tried different isps to sign
on with. May be I need to try a different undernet server.

I just don't know what to do. I am a new diabetic and really
do want to join in the chat.

You shouldn't need to register anywhere.

What you do need is to download an IRC client, and then
learn how to use it effectively. It'll take a short while
    but isn't rocket science.

mirc.commirc.com provides a shareware IRC client and
instructions/links for how to use it properly. It's time
well spent. Don't be put off by it; IRC has been around
practically since the Internet was born and it can be a
    rewarding experience.

When you come on, stay on until you get 'voiced'. This may
take some time depending on the time of day, most of the
    contribuors are in the states.

Ratty, I know how to use it, I have run two different
channels but not on undernet. One on dalnet and one on
anothernet which I don't think is around anymore. I have
been using mIRC since 1996 but hadn't used it in a long
time. The program and commands vary from one server to the
next but this is the first time I have ever had any
problems. I download a newer version of mIRC tonight when I
saw there was a chat but seems I am having problems with it.

I will try again tomorrow night but for now I am beat and
think I will just go to bed and try and read some tomorrow
and see why I get this message.

Ok so we know that you aren't a novice. That's a start.
Undernet shouldn't need you to register anywhere.

irc.undernet.org is misbehaving for me too. try this

    sterling.va.us.undernet.org

I just got a connection to it first time

I saw you come on as "buckles" and said hello, as did
Ozgirl. We didnt get a reply.

Try us again. I have very good luck with "/server
    oslo.no.eu.undernet.org" followed by "/join #diabetic-talk"

We'd be very glad to see you.
