Sure, get your HbA1c in the 5-6% range. Lose weight. Exercise.

If all else fails, ask your doc for a pump.

It affects a great deal of men, and the only 'help' is going to be good control and discussing it
    with your doctor.

Avoid quackery and 'aids' sold on the Internet. Any chemical treatment should be prescribed by a
    responsible physician, as should mechanical

probably going to be a counterfeit one made in the far east with no benefit at all.

There is plenty you can do to get help. You will just need to put your pride to one side for a short
while. Many diabetes clinics run confidential sessions covering just that subject, see if you can
    get referred to one.

And remember, they have seen it all before. They specialise in it.

Erectile disfunction in diabetics can be caused by a variety of the complications associated with
diabetes, or it can be caused by a variety of problems seen in the general population. The first
step is to diagnose exactly what the problem is. This, of course, can only be done by a physician.
Only with a specific diagnosis can treatment be addressed.

In the general male population, the incidence of erectile disfunction is on the order of 10%. It
increases with age. In the male population 39 to 70 years old it is over 50%. Diabetes is highly
predictive of erectile disfunction with complete impotence 3 times as likely in diabetics than in
the general population. On average, diabetics are effected 10 to 15 years earlier than non
    diabetics.

  6. time in non diabetics with a variety of causes of erectile dysfunction. This is because a large
percentages of the cases are psychogenic. In diabetics the success rate is about half that because
of the wider variety of other causes. Many of the diabetics with significant erectile dysfunction
also have severe generalized vascular disease. These patients often take nitrates and sildenafil is
strongly counter indicated in that case. Bay Area Dave is correct. See your doctor.

Let me add one case. A dialectic friend had some problems but he had diabetes and aging. He secured
some pills and exhorting the benefits.

A short time later he had a heart attack and expired tow days later. His attack came in the late
evening. Draw your conclusions. A Charly said--see a doctor and see if meds are indicated. A good
    doc will evaluate your situation.

One problem with aging is when a situation starts, it results in mental stress and that does help
    the situation.

As people age some things should be accepted. Let ther doc decide.

  8. I've done some research on this. Apparently there are two major causes:

    1. Nerve damage from high blood sugars. Studies by
neurologists have shown that other forms of "diabetic"
nerve damage start to appear when oral glucose tolerance
test 2-hour values hit 140 mg/dl. If you can pull your
post meal numbers under 140 you may see a great
improvement. The Japanese Kumamoto study with Type 2s
found that over 6 years of very tight control and keeping
blood sugars under 180 mg/dl at all times their nerve
function improved rather than degenerated. It is
important to note that the hba1c of this group was the
same as that of the group in the UKPDS who did
degenerate. The difference was that the Japanese group
    controlled POST MEAL NUMBERS.

I have polled on the low carb newsgroup and received several
replies from men who reported that after a month or two of
low carbing and keeping their blood sugars very low that
way, their function began to return and in some cases became
    quite satisfactory.

    It's worth a try.

    2. Clogged arteries. This problem unfortunately, does not
    seem to respond to treatment.
