Deore LX shifter indicators

Take them off and ride more.

That sometimes works.

If the wire spring inside is broken, the position indicator will not move.
If you indicator isn't moving, or barely moves, it's pretty easy to fix
(but you might need a new wire spring). I've done it using ones out of old
shifters (you might be able to source the part from a bike shop - they often
have old shifters lying around).
