will prepare you well for your boards and give you a
fairly balanced education. There are other good schools
out there.It all depends on what type of of Chiro you
want to be.

will prepare you well for your boards and give you a
fairly balanced education. There are other good schools
out there.It all depends on what type of of Chiro you
want to be.

I'm surprised nobody stressed the importance of going to an
ACCREDITTED school. Accreditted schools qualify for graduate
level student aid as well as a guarantee of being able to
take the licensing exams and practice if you pass them.

Reading his story, he would have done much better with
psychotherapy and medication for his cronic depression and
anxiety problems. I doubt he will be happy in any profession
he chooses if he can choose one ever.

The schools I mentioned are all accreditted. One of the

I would like to comment on Dr. Lattanze's Warning for Pre-
Chiropractic Students. I have practiced chiropractic since
1977 and have been absolutely galled by what I have seen
occur in this profession. I cannot go to a chiropractor in
my area and get a specific adjustment. It's not all the
fault of the schools, although I wonder if they teach any of
the good techniques any more. But most of the doctors are
trying to get patients through as fast as possible. They
don't examine the patient with each visit to determine what
has to be adjusted, or if they do, they don't really know
what they're doing. One of these docs told me he was a
technique instructor in chiro college, and all he did was
the same adjustment on every patient. This is not
chiropractic adjustment as it was meant to be. It is general
manipulation, which is a physiotherapeutic method. It does
not correct subluxations except by accident. Therefore it
has no lasting value. In fact it is harmful. And most of
these "doctors" have their patients come in way too many
times, which is tremendously more harmful.

What Dr. Lattanze reported that he experienced in school and
his early chiropractic career, is tragic. It happens this
way far too often.

My dad was a chiropractor who developed a specific technique
of chiropractic analysis and adjusting. This method includes
much of the old style "good stuff." Although it is more time
consuming that other techniques, we usually get patients
better in 1-4 visits for their initial complaints, unless it
is a more severe problem. People still need maintenance
care, but not to the extent that other chiropracors
recommend. If you do it right the first time you don't have
to do it again and again and again. And if you do it right,
people come back when they need to without you badgering the
boogers out of them. I do no advertising and stay pretty
busy. I have a low volume practice, but I earn a good enough
living. I feel that I do more good than a big batch of other
chiropractors who are less dedicated healers.

So the subject being, which school to go to, I don't think
it matters much. What matters is that you seek out the
good techniques and try to be a healer, not a fraud. In
the future I may teach my dad's technique. He put a book
out a few years ago. His first book was published in 1977.
He taught seminars and wrote articles for the old Digest
of Chiro. Economics. But the technique never caught on.
But when people come to see me, they often comment that
they have never been examined as thoroughly as they are by
me. They are really impressed. As I am unimpressed by
other chiropractors who don't know what they're doing, or
don't care.

Many of the techniques out there are very good. But the
doctor must use them the way they were intended to be used.

Let me know if you have any interest in my technique. It may
spur me on to begin putting a seminar together.

Excellent post. You sound like my fourth, and current
Chiropractor that I love so dearly. I have been through
the mill with the crack, crack, see you tomorrow routine
with four others, well three and a half. This D.C. fixes
me each time for a month or so until I put something out
of whack again.

I need the maintenance or I wouldn't be able to walk
anymore. The damage accumulates on my L4-5th lumbar (what
else) and C1-C2 (too much computer). I can go without
adjustment for about a year and a half before I beging
crawling to work.
