thinking. Do they get a menu for their death row meal? And secondly, what
if you are in prison and have special dietary restrictions, like a diabetic.
Do they allow you that?

That is one of the more interesting things I have seen. What a bunch of
losers. It's bad enough that they do something bad enough to get executed,
but given a opportunity to have anything they want for a last meal it's
amazing how unsophisticated their requests are.... hamburgers,
cheeseburgers, fried chicken. Few of them asked for steak.

Lobster, roasted asparagus wrapped in bacon, steamed clams, roasted garlic
mashed potatoes and hot sourdough bread with fresh butter. Oh, some grilled
scallops wouldn't hurt, either. Not that I could eat it all, but I guess it
wouldn't matter. :~)

Why? Because it's against Texas Law to execute someone who's
physically sick.

Actually, most state don't give you anything you want. You get can
anything off their list of things you can have.

They have to provide alternates for people with food allergies.
The solution to that is they keep most common allergens out of the
usual menus. Milk, soy and, wheat are not common allergies.
Those are affluent allergies. No nuts, though.

They also provide special meals for diabetics, liquid diets for
gastro conditions, low-salt, and other assorted and
medically-prescribed diets.

Muslim, Jewish, or <gasp> Vegetarian? You'll eat what you're
served or you'll starve (or you can always find somebody to trade
vegetables for meat). They'll only accommodate religious diets
during Passover, Ramadan, etc, and even that varies by State. And
you'll almost always get fish on Fridays.

County/City jails and Federal prisons usually have a little more
leniency depending on the area, especially for vegetarians. Some
county jails are so small that the prisoners get whatever the
staff is eating - pizza, hamburgers, and canned soda.

Federal laws say that 2 of the three meals must include a hot
entree - breakfast and dinner, no matter what kind of lockup
facility. Hot coffee doesn't count. Most states only serve/allow
decaf anyway (inmates will save up caffeine and ingest it all at
once to get high).

Quite a few years ago here in Tx. there was a woman to be executed. This was
the first woman in a lot of years, maybe ever. It was George Bush's first
high profile act as gov., to sign off on the execution. At the time I felt
sorry for him, later I heard that he made fun of her, anyway, she had done
awful things while in a drug crazed state. In prison she changed and became
a better person. I always thought it was so odd because her last meal
consisted of very low fat and healthful stuff.
