Dealing with spectators' reactions during a crash in a race

Why do folks think yelling at a downed rider helps? Seriously, it’s chaos out there. Riders are dazed, not robots. Just let the medics do their thing. Why's it so hard to chill for a sec?

Oh, wow, what a revelation! You've discovered that spectators can be clueless. Who would have thought? It's not like we've all experienced that before.

And yeah, because shouting "GET OUT OF THE WAY!" is going to magically make a rider suddenly regain their composure and ninja-jump out of harm's way. I mean, it's not like they're already stunned, hurt, and trying to process what just happened. Nope, a loudmouth in the crowd is all they need to snap out of it.

And let's be real, staying quiet and letting the rider get up at their own pace is way too sensible. Where's the entertainment value in that? The crowd needs drama, and what better way to create it than by yelling useless instructions?

Spectators yelling like they’re coaching the Tour de France from the sidelines is a whole new level of clueless. I mean, what do they think? Riders are just waiting for the cue to bounce back up like a rubber band? Newsflash: they're not in a video game. They’re real people, not characters in some action flick. And the phones, seriously? Can we get a moment of silence for dignity? Instead, it’s like a live-streaming circus. Everyone’s waiting for the next big fail to post. Is it too much to ask for a little respect when someone’s just had a rough tumble?
