I couldn't believe the attitude of a middle aged woman driver I had an
encounter with today.
I hate aggressive drivers and I believe I am a courteous driver and bike
rider. I was riding my bike to a local flea market this morning and had
just entered a road from a T intersection. A woman in her mid 50's in a
white commodore with a few battle scars on it followed me from the same
direction and continued from the T intersection the same direction as I was
riding.
This road led to a set of traffic lights after travelling about a further 50
meters. At the traffic lights there was another T intersection. I was
intending to continue straight ahead into a railway station car park
controlled by the traffic lights. The white commodore was wishing to turn
left. The road I turned into split from a single lane into 5 lanes. Two
turned right with 1 optional straight ahead. One land straight ahead and
two turned left. I was attempting to travel to the lane which travelled
straight ahead and headed for this direction. This did not suit the woman
in the commodore and she sounded her horn and drove with her front bumper
about a meter from my rear wheel. As I said it was only about 50 meters to
the traffic lights which were red in all directions anyway. I was peddleing
flat out and if I had braked I am in no doubt she would have hit me. I
looked to my rear and watched the front bumper of the car and my rear wheel.
I slipped a pedal and skinned my shin.
I couldn't believe a woman in her mid fifties could be so aggressive in a
motor vehicle.
I had some serious words with her including a few expletives which I believe
were quite in order. She demanded to know my name so she could report the
matter to the police. I demanded hers which she refused and said I could
take her number plates despite my injury (although slight my shin did bleed
quite a bit).
I couldn't be bothered with the police but the attitude of this [censored] was
unbelieveable.
I have never struck a woman in my life but it this [censored] had hit me with her
car I woul have let loose as it would not have been an accident but callous.
Quite a few years back I used to ride with a few objects in my pockets to
hurl at any carrs endangering a cyclists safety. I looks like I might have
renew this practice.
