  1. Marinated flank steak, Italian green bean almondeen and
potato salad. Okay, I don't know what I did wrong with the
potato salad, something's missing, but it was good enough.

Steak and green beans, very good.

A little curry powder in the potato salad hides many sins of omittance.

Good idea, I was thinking of cayenne. Can't think why it's so bland.

not enough onion? different mayo? no garlic? too few eggs?, potatoes not
a day old? forgot the mustard?

remember making it while looking at the recipe....what's wrong will turn
    up.

Many recipes for Potato salad call for a small amount of vinegar. I find the
extra sour adds an unexpected little kick.

Mustard and dill pickle relish (or chopped dills). As well as
    the other usual ingredients.

Dimitri, I agree with you. If I add too much vinegar, it stirs up my
    asthma. Sometimes it's worth it.

I put some relish but not much, I ran out. Mustard, that would
work. It also occurred to me that I added sour cream and perhaps
even too much sour cream. I love the stuff, but it can just negate
other flavors. Next time, no sour cream and I'll remember all of
    these suggestions. Thanks.

I've never heard anybody else mention this before, but I couldn't
agree less. I've made some dishes that tasted really good, but
then I get ambitious and add sour cream and it all goes to hell.

Uh... that sour cream negates flavor, obviously.

Perhaps you're used to the term "couldn't agree more", which is
technically the opposite of what people think it means.

Same with "I could care less". Its supposed to be "I couldn't
    care less".

I would never serve scrapple again to anyone who desecrated it in such a

It means I agree with you SO MUCH that I couldn't agree one
more iota if I tried. If you couldn't agree less, it means you really
    disagree
SO MUCH that you couldn't agree less.

Of course. That was the slang where I grew up. Not that I say
    that, but it was slang.

I'm sure it was bad. That means good, right? Heh.
