It was a foot massage for me. I was sitting here at the computer with
my feet on the floor, so I felt it. Hubby was in his recliner with
his feet up. I had to say "earthquake" before he realized anything
was happening.

DD was one of those who lost cell phone communication for a while.
She's going to get a land line as a result of this little scare.

Didn't remember where you lived, but as soon as I saw your Subject
header I knew what this post was about. 🙂 (Since I've been living a
so-cal life for almost 30 years. <g>😉

Posts from friends have said it was in the neighborhood of 15 to 30
seconds. That's long. I'm not hearing of any serious damage; just some
broken water and gas lines.

I've never gotten rid of my land-line, because it doesn't take much to
destroy a cell tower. In torando alley where I live, that's easily
done. Hmmm.... I'd better make sure I had long-distance available via
my land-line, although I use my cellphone for that.

Actually, we have them quite often. Most of them aren't detectable,
unless you are right on top of them. The only ones you hear about where

from my mom's death two years ago. I couldn't argue with him about it
because frankly, I used the cell phone almost exclusively. At that
point we went from one cell phone to two. I didn't care but I wanted
the land line phone number we'd had for 30 years. Unfortunately,
although we'd stayed with the big carriers.... ATT & Pac Bell solely -
for some reason Verizon couldn't figure out who owned the number, so I
switched to a new number (after a month of no phone for me). That's
what still sticks in my craw. I'm ok not having a land line, I'm not
ok no having that phone number.

sf, I understand how you feel. My telephone number was my grandmother's
old phone number. She passed away one week before I was married. I kept
that number, until I moved to Louisiana. It was hard to give it up, but
life goes on.
