The bike shop isn't open again until Tuesday (and even then I'm not sure they stock 700Cx20, only idiots ride on anything that skinny these days), and I have a meeting on Tuesday morning in Dumfries I was planning to ride to. Bother, bother, bother, bother bother.

Could you do a temp bodge job with a bit of canvas of an old tyre just to get you to your meeting and then bike shop in Dumfries?
It's always very annoying!

Line the tyre with a bit of thin plastic sheet - viewfoil sheet is ideal or Aussie/Kiwi banknotes - at the slit. You can also try supergluing the slit in the cover back together. Will get you through the next day or two.

Having used a [censored] packet to effect a temporary repair once (it lasted just long enough to get me within 1 mile of home), I now carry Park tire (sic) boots.

I've used a combination of superglue on the edge of the slit and thin wet 'n dry paper inside, rough side towards the tyre, to effect a temporary (which lasted three months) repair.
