After a long hiatus and a quadruple bypass op, my Dad has taken up riding bikes again. Not wanting to spend up big, he got a second had rigid MTB to toot around on. Given he lives in the Adelaide hills, this is pretty brave. I actually think recumbents are kinda cool, and wouldn't mind getting one some day just for something different.

My Dad did a similar thing many years ago - but he lived in the bush and needed the MTB to negotiate the gravel roads.
Years and years later I was cleaning his old bike in the front of my (inner city) yard. A young fellow came passed who used to live in my house - years ago it was a group home/foster care home. Anyway, we got talking, he was out job hunting with bugga all funds to get around. He was delighted to have a (for him) new bike to help out with the travel. I reckon Dad would have been pleased too. 🙂
