Let me explain.....For Christmas I got what I believe is an original cyclops trainer. Nowhere on the box does it say fluid 2. It was purchased by a family member from Performance bikes. I used a trainer a few years back and loved it, but it wore out and never bought another one.
Should I just take it out of the box and use it or should I return it for the Fluid 2 version? I have done some research on it, but not a whole lot. I also did a search here and read about all I could so I thought I would just ask.

I had a Cyclops fluid 2 for a whole year and I like it. It's reasonable quiet but I still don't think my wift is able to watch TV comfortably while I'm pedaling in the living room. So, I place it outside on a balcony with a laptop aside playing videos.
Before I did the purchase last year, I did some research on internet, including www.roadbikereview.com. As I remeber, someone mentioned that some original Cyclops fluid have a liquid leaking problem and it was fixed or improved in Cyclops fluid 2 by adding more O-rings. I would return it for a fluid 2.
Thanks for the response! I remember reading about a fluid trainer that has a completely sealed fluid unit by using magnets to make the connection. Does anyone know which one it is?
I can afford to buy a decent trainer, by upgrading, but I can't afford to replace the flooring in my house right now because of a leaky trainer....
the fluid 2 has been out for a number of years. They have a brand new fluid 2 that has a slightly heavier flywheel and a quick release for the resistance unit. The one with the magnets is the Kurt Kinetic Trainer. the cyclops is a bit quieter but I think the Kinetic is a tad smoother cause of the hevier flywheel

It's the Kurt Kinetic Road Machine. There are many posts all over these forums from people highly recommending this trainer.
I haven't purchased the old version of the CycleOps Fluid but I have bought and use the CycleOps Fluid 2. I found it really useful for my training. I have no problems with it, apart from the fact that each time I look on Amazon the price has dropped some!! I have written a review of the product if any one is interested.
