It was reported on Sydney radio today that a pair of cyclists were riding in the M5 East tunnel.
Forget that cyclists are not permitted in there, or the speed the traffic sometimes travels at,
these cyclists were risking their lives from the vast amount of pollution that is in that tunnel.
There is a constant haze in there. It would have to rate as one of the most polluted pieces of
roadway in the entire world!
I won't even enter it in a vehicle for fear of having an asthma attack in there.

I have gone in there on the motorcycle a couple of times, but only
when I know the traffic will be flowing well. It smells awful even at
70kmh.
Be a death trap in peak hour.

That's hardly the smartest move for a cyclist, though if they do it
often, Darwinism should fix them up.
Regardless, why was this reported on Sydney radio? Sounds like more
cyclist bashing from the media to me.

You're worse off pollution wise in a car (which is what I think you meant by vehicle, a bicycle's a vehicle as well) than you are on a bicycle. Dumb move though.
Reminds me of the time that "Critical Mass" rode through the Melbourne
City Link tunnel at peak hour.
This tunnel runs parallel with one of the world's most scenic bike
paths along the Yarra.
You have to ask: what are these people on?

It was a listener ringing in to report it as a traffic problem. The presenter then had a bit of a
go at pushbike riders in general.
