I had several too ;-)

1. Since when have FoE been speaking on behalf of cyclists?
Well quite, but then again, what's to stop them. They are "promoting" it as a green alternative to
the car. Note the quotation marks around the their idea of promotion...
Quoted message said:2. If they want to can the speak some sense? That would be better than demanding the gutters are
painted green.
Exactly - rather than go to the root of the problem - bad and inconsiderate driving, lets make out
it's cycling which is the danger (even if it is due to increased motorised traffic) and get the
cyclists to get off the roads on to cycle paths and into the gutters painted green...
Quoted message said:3. Another lazy PR claiming cycling is 'dangerous' : ) 'Environmentalists driving cyclists from
the roads shock'?
Indeed.
Quoted message said:4. 4500 cycle commuters down to 3000 must be due to something real (assuming the numbers are
valid). Since the 'cycle paths' were not there before what has changed?
Quite. Obviously bu**er all to do with increased traffic - blame it on the council for not providing
cycle paths...
Quoted message said:Another example of the BBC picking up a press release & running it without thinking/questioning.
Indeed - it's because it's from a well-known pressure group - ergo it must be correct...
