Thanks, Bill, I will. He won't be officiating at any races until at least
mid-June, I would think. It's at least 4-6 weeks until he can think about
even starting to do anything. The vultures were already circling to get his
spot for the Philly races ;>

Not that it's exactly rocket science, but you do need to make
sure you get a compatible cable and follow a few simple steps

Incidentally, when buying DVD's and all the other alphabet soup
video disk thinggys, be careful when buying from Foreign sources.

The computer CD/DVD/etc reader must match the Zone that the disk
was produced for and vice-versa

If you bought your 'puter in YankeeDoodleDom or KanukReich, insist
that the disk be Zone 1 (one) compatible

U-Rope is Zone 2

The problem seldom, prolly never, arises when you buy videos in
the same country where you bought your 'puter

Just a word of advice

The S-Video cable has 3 connectors on the TV end that we plugged into the TV
tuner (not directly into the TV, because we run a surround sound system).
One is for video and the other two are for left and right sound. On the
other end, there is the round connector that plugs into the computer, and a
plug that goes into the headphone jack of the computer. Sound and video run
through the same cable.

When I was at home with our extremely colic-y 2nd child (wife in a
mega-hours grad program), a friend who owned a dual-head VCR loaned me
approx. 50 dubs of VHS format World Cycling Productions videos of
various pro races, past and up through that time, incl. a few choice
"oldies". I couldn't tell you much detail about those races but as I
had seen almost no real Euro-style coverage before then, they were
certainly a welcome distraction. Happily, he still doesn't seem to be
in a hurry to get these "viewing copies" back...

What price sanity? "Thanks, Phil, sorry".

switch zones. Saves you a lot of hassle.

Many models of DVD players, the cheaper ones at least, are region free
so no hacking required.
