Cycling on tv?

figuring you to be a us citizen, you are up against it like a good many of us. the only channel which may be included in your cable offerings would be nbc sports (formerly outdoor, formerly versus or vice versa). they hold the tdf broadcast rights and show several other races as part of their cyclisme (?) programme. other than that there really isn't much in the states. i tend to watch the races on-line through steephill.tv.

Yes, pretty much this. steephill.tv is the go-to site to view the games. I, myself have been watching there for quite a while.

I have not heard of this channel until now. I do believe it is really useful. I will check it out.

Aside from steephill, I don't think there even is another way to watch unless you want to wait for the Olympics event for it. The thing I don't understand is that they don't publicize biking, yet they can put something like golf on plenty of channels.

NBCSN carries several cycling races througout the year. Some of the spring classics, the Tour, and the US Pro Challenge. They may be carrying the Tour of California right now, as they have in past years. They may do a live broadcast during the day, and a late night taped coverage after the last hockey game ends.

Only things like the Tour de France or Tour de California get much air time. And in truth, even those aren't much. There aren't enough people that take cycling seriously to merit more air time as it it was basketball, football, baseball, etc. But who knows, as the demographic of the country changes, the view of what is popular and what isn't might in time as well. So we can see cycling more often...one day.

NBC sports has schedules for cycling. You can also check out for live streaming on Sportlemon.tv and fromhot.com. There are my favorite but there are still many channels you can choose from. Just search online and select from a wide selection.

When you watch Steephill.tv links, it is helpful to push the expand screen button to eliminate the pop-up ads. The picture quality is poor, but you can enjoy the race.

The other thing is that I use a Mac, so have never had any problem with viruses or the like. Not sure how "clean" some of those links are.

Never did I see cycling on TV which is interesting. I've seen it on YouTube through GoPro but nothing else.

I have a tough time watching cycling. I have the same feeling about watching golf. I love to participate in both but watching either on television is just not something I have ever been interested in.

Approaching the intial question: Why not watch online? If you have something specific you'd like to watch just search for it streaming.

BeIn Sports is carrying the Giro here in the US. It's been an ace watch so far. The Giro is always more entertaining that the Tour and about as much fun as the last few days of the Tour of California this year, which was also a cracking race.

That's what I even do. I think "online" replaced TV.

That would be televisions fault for offering everything they want you to watch on their stations on their websites for the low low price of watching a few ads. Less ads, mind you, than you would if you were watching it as it aired on the station they want you to watch it on. Nonsense.

Absolutely.

The road cycling on tv is when there is that local tour. The last one was held last year and it included a foreign team. It was shown on tv although on a delayed telecast and at almost midnight. The host said that they were in need of sponsors. That may be the reason why there was no local tour this year. But hopefully the tour will have a version next year.
