OK, I had my first laugh for Monday Morning. Why do we try to
intellectualize everything? Why can't we just enjoy it? Riding a bike
should be fun, freedom, exercise and a feeling of liberation from the
cars, gas prices and road rage we deal with when we drive. I found
cycling to be a real sense of freedom. A time to just ENJOY!!!! But I
am not in training for a century. I am just riding for fitness and fun.

The terms Liberal and Conservative appear to have morphed into very
narrow catagories now-a-days, pertaining only to one's stance on a few
narrow social issues.

You can be fiscally liberal to the point of being irresponsible and
still be a conservative. (actually, that appears mandatory)

And if your for the conservation of energy, you're a liberal.

And as for the "liberal" use of the department of defense, turning it
into the dept of offense (the best defense is a good offense?) and
thereby needing a new department of defense (dept of homeland security)?

Why flame? You are pretty much on target and everyone will have a
somewhat different opinion anyway, some hugely different, and some, even
the few illiterate will show up. I have a few differences but not enough

That is why the military sends someone to inform the family or makes
some kind of attempt on a personal level. On the national level it gets
very redundant.
