But your power saving circuits will switch off the Monitor and hard disks
after a preset time. AFAIK things coming in down the broadband line will
wake it up again.

For definite Micro$ofts security update software wakes mine up in the
middle of the night, gets stuff from my dial up line, reboots it and it
then goes to sleep again.

I keep thinking about B/B, but inertia has prevented me from doing
anything about it as yet, and indecision between staying with the
reliable devil I know (Demon, accidental pun), and plunging wildly into
NTL or Tiscali or whatever. Their offers are all cheaper, but the
small print tells me that the monthly charge goes up after 12 months.
