I came across a good website the other day in which users can upload
recommended routes, linked in to googlemaps or sumesuch. Can I find it
    now????

any suggestions/recommendations - for the UK??

MapMyRide ( http://www.mapmyride.com/ ) is my preferred one.

    Another popular one is Bikely ( http://www.bikely.com/ ), though I don't
like the interface as much. And the GPX export is still broken.
There's a few others, eg Toporoute http://www.toporoute.com/ . Or you
can just use Google Maps to plan routes.

Bikely is the one I use at the moment for drawing out routes.

Keep an eye out for sites based on the OS Openspace maps though in the
future. Although they don't have the 1:25000 maps on it the 1:50000 maps
    are useable.
Using Bikely's GPX converter I've dumped all my routes onto an OS map -

for a basic example (yesterday's ride).

Liftshare is not really a planning tool for routes but if you have a
regular route and want to have some company you might find it useful (or
if you are trying to suss out a route, commuting most likely, you might
    find someone to ask).

Would agree with the Bikely one. Mainly off road for me but getting an
elevation map is probably good for anyone!

    Tracker.
