    Use proper cutters, designed for cutting brake cable. You will more than
    likely have to file the end down some, once you cut them.

    Get the right tool for the job. Use an awl to open the inner liner up after
    cutting.

    Nah, geared. I just remember how much more of a pain it was to install the
    brake cables, as opposed to the shifter cables. Even with the Park
    cable/housing cutters.
