curved or straight frames?

Niether is truely best, but I prefer straight on everything so I can
glide, wheelwalk and one foot it more easily, however alot of people use
round and do the same. I've never tried a round frame for more than a
few minutes so ireally wouldn't know. Once after a really, long ride mt
crank fell off so i was able to ride the street portion of the way home,
instead of looking funny taking my UNI for a walk. And not much weight
is applied through the "stem" of the uni unless you land on your saddle
instead of absorbing through the legs, and the chances of that breaking
the "stem" are like 1 in 10^10^10.

Catboy, while I agree with what you say. I would argue that there aren't
even 10^10^10 unicycles in the world. Or even in the universe.

Having a rounded frame makes beginer freestyle more difficult and expert
freestyle impossible!

With 1ft riding and 1ft ww etc. you can do it leg extended...its not
that much harder, but there is no way you could coast or do any stand up
tricks on a rounded frame.

Of course it doesn't matter so much if you do trials, street or muni.
Dan Doerksen uses a rounded frame in Universe 2 and look how good he is.
I think he's the only really good rider that uses one though.

All depends on style tho doesn't it? Dan Doerksen's style in U2 didn't
involve any need for a place to put a foot. But Dan Heaton's frame on
the other hand suited him. Is Dan Doeksen's a custom made frame? I
noticed the seat stem is really short and looked thicker than 22.2mm.
Actually it seemed to me that one of his seats had the post really close
to the handle... tho it may have just been the angle. Nice frame/uni
either way!

There is a much smaller chance of hitting your knees on round frames.
This is one thing that I had to get used to when riding my MUni w/Nimbus
frame.

As stated earlier, frame strength is not much of a factor (unless you
are talking lollipop frames *shudder*).

I didn't say there was, I was saying the chances of the "stem" of a uni
breaking are 10^10^10 and since there aren't that many in the world your
chances are infintecimal, and therefore not an issue.

does some HUGE drops. Though I think his frame is titanium if that makes

The strength of a unicycle frame does not derive from it's general (very
general, by your poll) shape, but by the quality of build.

1. What does a Schwinn frame have in common with the other ones you
mentioned in the curved category? Schwinn frames are made of stamped
pieces of thick steel, while the others are formed from thin-walled
tubing (which makes them a lot lighter and yet a lot stiffer)?

2. I've been around a while and I've never heard of a unicycle frame
breaking in the way you described.

3. Generally, the frame is the last thing to go on a unicycle. When they
do go bad, it's usually from side forces or other non-riding impacts
that kill them.

4. I'll take a well-built round frame any day (not for Freestyle) over a
cheaply made straight frame.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Dan Heaton has both a rounded crown and flat
crown frame. But I don't think it's titanium. I didn't think anyone
bothered to have titanium yet, when we discussed this we ended up
figuring the cost would be over $1000?

The one in Universe II *is* titanium, because he told me so. He probably
has every type of frame under the face of the sun. The titanium trials
frame has square shoulders.

Man that frame would be awesome. Hopefully he sees this thread and tells
us how much it cost, I'd really like to know. Is that the green on he
uses in U2?

I like curved for my 29'er and Coker- less likely to snag your shorts.

Flat is good for 20' and 24' 1 foot stuff.

When I asked, it was about the trials frame. I think the green one is a
Nimbus [censored] or similar narrow flat top frame.

I have a flat top 29er frame. It's very narrow at the top so I've never
hit my self or caught any clothing. I imagine you would on one with the
tops of the legs protruding from the crown.

Want a decent round frame for my muni sometime.
