I *am* a member, and I've not received a "message to their members". Last
thing I got from them was their CTC newsnet that I get every Friday.

No, one can never be sure an email is from who it claims to be. It is
entitled CTC newsnet and babbles on about the CDF and the Cadden case. I
read sufficient to believe it was genuine but lost interest when I
suspected it was going to suggest I join.

I assume you mean Yannick's weekly missive? He sents it out every
Friday, I think - anyone can sign up for it (somewhere on the ctc
site). AIUI, members don't get it automatically and non-members can get
it if they wish.

It's just a weekly roundup of bike stuff - not a sales pitch. Well
written, interesting and succinct IMO.

It sounds like the CTC weekly newsletter. You should be able to
unsubscribe, but I see the unsubscribe instructions require you to send
your membership number. If you're not a member that's a bit of a Catch
22. I suggest you send an e-mail directly to yannick dot read at ctc
dot org dot uk.

article 'Missed Opportunity' 27/10/06, but it is trivial to

"Trivial to unsubscribe" is the spammer's argument. MSeries shouldn't be
getting it unsolicited in the first place.

However, from a single report, I suspect cockup not conspiracy; there's no
indication it's going out in bulk unsolicited.

Curiously, I was on the phone to them today (amongst other things) trying
to persuade them to stop sending some stuff as HTML email...
