  1. I've heard people say, "dude, I'm doing like 300 situps a day". Wouldn't it
be more efficient to put some more resistance in whatever ab exercise
you're doing and go with fewer repetitions?

I think so. Of course, someone's gonna come back and say it depends
on wht you want out of them.
I say, [censored]. I see no point to hundreds of crunches/situps.
Also, they can't be doing crunches to be able to get through
anywhere near that many. Done right (contracting the abs), they hurt
    after a while.

It's like doing hundreds of dumbbell curls a day with a 1 pound pink
    'barbie's first weight set' dumbbell...

I'm going to die rather sooner than I'd like. I tried to protect my
neighbours from crime, and became the victim of it. Complications in
hospital following this resulted in a serious illness. I now need a bone
marrow transplant. Many people around the world are waiting for a marrow
transplant, too. Please volunteer to be a marrow donor:

Unless you have some very good reason to want endurance in those muscles.

Case in point, my (current!) rowing style involves a reasonable amount of
lean at the finish, so I'm essentially doing the top 25-30 degrees of a
situp every stroke I take; this requires a bit of endurance.

I don't do lots of situps, though, I do enough endurance work on the rowing
    machine and in the boat.

Why would your ab muscles be different from the other muscles in your body?
12 reps or less, weighted of course. Three or four sets every other day is
    sufficient.

    YES!
