**sigh** I just found out tonight that there is only 3 more TT's left this season!!! :eek:๐
What I wanted to accomplish by the end of the season is to enter the 25 min time for the 10 Mile TT. Currently my best is 26:29. I would like to shave off another minute if possible.
A little background...
The course is an "easy" rolling, out and back. There is one hill on the way out that takes the speed out of you. I don't know this to be true...but somewhere I saw that there is 390' of elevation change...that might be from the starting spot to the turnaround, not actuall climbing ??? As for me...5'-7" 140 lbs. Bike...Trek 1000SL (No areo equipment...no Power Meter...fully spoked wheels) ...and no money currently to improve the bike itself.
SO...
What to do in the short period of time, for the best gains? I really get about 4 days for possible training. Racing is on Tuesday nights.
My thoughts right now is to get out on the TT course and just go. I would further learn the course...maybe seeing somewhere I could make up time (on a particular hill or something?) I was thinking of doing that maybe twice...then other days spend some time on the trainer working on cadence. ??? I don't know if that is exactly specific enough...but 'should' be enough to cut a bit of time off, maybe?
One of my other concerns? is that during the race, I feel that I'm giving 100%...or very close to it, I do "worry" about bonking. But, shortly after the race...and I mean shortly after, within just a few minutes...I wonder if I really did because I'm almost recovered. Yes, I do have sweat pouring off of me, and I'm winded for the few minutes...but then I feel like I could almost line up and do it again. One thing that I have noticed is that I do seem to have a fast recovery time. Compared to others going the same speed up a hill, or whatever...I'll be "ok" just after it gets flat, and they will still be winded or slower.
Maybe I need to work at getting this to work to my advantage...๐
[EDIT]
Dunno if this would help any...but...my times this year have looked like this...
27:53
26:58
27:24...got a major leg cramp with about a mile to go
26:36...Wind on the return. 10-15mph gusting to 23mph
26:29...about 10mph win on the way back.
The first 3 rides were almost dead calm, so hopefully there will be one more night like that!!! Anyway...don't know if this info will help, but wanted to share just in case.
