Dale Knapp won the 40-44 race.

What a travesty. I mean, how can they let geriatric 44-yr olds compete
against young gods of 40?! It's not fair. They should really split this
category up. Knapp is 40 I presume? I hope he's proud of himself.

Really! They should the age-groups broken down into 1 yr increments,
or at least require previous winners to sit out their first year of
eligibility in a new age group.

  6. Dale is 41 and actually sat out a year for clean split between Elites
    and Masters

See! Sitting out a year IS a good idea. USAC should make it mandatory.

weak sauce. 'cross is about dealing with [censored] conditions, even if it
means running in circles with a bike over your shoulder for an hour. If
this turns out to be true, I am very disappointed. I'd expect this sort
of thing out West, but not here in New England.

Hey we have never posponed a National Cross event due to a little bad
weather out here in the west. Wimping out due to weather is strictly an
    East Cost thing. 🙂

Not sure it was him sitting out as much as it was him working in Japan
    (so I heard).

  13. Not last year...that was a few years ago and Singapore

I'm sure it was the officials that made the call.

It was the Wednesday night wickburgers that sent him over the top this year.

  16. No wimping out here boys and girls. From someone that was
there..........we experience blizzard conditions during the 35-39 race.
For those of you who don't know weather, that's heavy snow, 30+ mph
winds, and visibility less than 1/8 mile. With the snow (and sleet and
rain that had refroze on top of the snow), the riders could not stay
upright. 16 riders finished out of ~140. I was in the registration
tent (one of the big ones not just an e-z up) and though the tent was
    going down.

Most of the readers here don't know me, but those that do will
understand..........I have never been so glad to leave a bike race in
my life. I packed up my stuff in 10 minutes and was out of there
faster than the winds were blowing.

  17. Hey, how come we don't have a Tuesday Night Cross training races for
    the Old Farts?

  18. this string is too funny...

I was there, and am 100% sure that holding another race was just in-humane. I won't go into how bad it was, but if you weren't there, lets just say you have no idea how bad it was. I wasn't racing, just watching, and felt sure I was going to die, seriously.

they made the right call, no doubt.
