I'm a newb when it comes to bike quality, and while I have a mountain bike, I've been thinking of purchasing a road bike. I'm in university and can't afford much, but today I came across this bike at Canadian Tire. It's one of the few road bikes they carry, but aesthetically it's nice, and it's half price at $200.
I'm just wondering why this bike is so cheap, and what you experts have to say about it! It looks good, and is cheap, so what's the catch?
I'm unable to link the page so I'll just post a pic with all the info.
Thanks!
Tony
Some strange components. Grip shifters? Nasty. You would be better to get a used bike, probably. Or shop around a little, to see what else is around.
I had a really cheap Raleigh on my trainer and I hated it at first. But once I had the levers changed to Sora, I have started to really quite like it. So my own feeling would be not to get any bike that doesn't have at least Sora, or Ergo shifters, as unusual shifters are just too annoying to live with, for me at least.
Anything with Shimano 2200 / Sora, or all Sora, or all Xenon kit would indicate that it's probably not that bad a budget bike.
