I thought it might be a good idea to ride at the back of one
with a message somehow attached to my back reading:

"NOTICE: We are moving at 15-20 mph (actually not very slow
for city traffic) please do not overtake hastily as there
are too many of us to do so safely. Either follow behind
until you get to your destination, use a different route, or
overtake when you're sure it's safe. Be aware that it is not
bikes which slow up city traffic, but the volume of
motorised vehicles."

....and hope that the billboard would hide the bikes, 'cos
drivers seem to think the vehicle in front is what's slowing
them down, regardless.......regardless being the operative

Over the last month, I have been sworn at on thirteen occasions.
Cut up on eight occassions.
Had stuff thrown at me twice out of a car window - (fortunately I was wearing a helmet on the second occassion, and the apple just bounced off harmlessly)

A friend and I plan on doing something remarkably similar in
Edinburgh this month. After my experience of the last one, I
felt that some explanation for the cars at the back would
probably be a good thing. Would you object to us stealing
(or borrowing!) some of your words?

It would be cool to meet some more u.r.c-ers! Probably won't
be carrying a large sign, but I will be carrying some small
flyers. I think we'll just use the text from one of the
Critical Mass websites preceded by "Please do not read while
driving!". I'll be on a very 80s looking gold framed road
bike. Under other circumstances I'd suggest looking for the
fixer but the CM is full of couriers so there's tonnes!
