I am thinking of entering my first criterium race. I wanted to ask, how do they keep track of your time and place in the field ?

I wanted to ask, how do they keep track of your time and place in the field

Race is typically a time plus laps..... eg 35 mins plus 3 laps to complete
the crit. Sometimes an intermediate sprint may be thrown in. This gives
opportunity to collect some cash or launch an attack straight after the
sprint, thereby breaking up the field.
You should track your time on your computer, the marshall will typically
call the time and laps when appropriate to keep riders informed.
A range of grades may be racing the course together, you need to stay with
your bunch otherwise it gets academic about where you are placed. If lapped
by your bunch you are technically out of the race, though you may be allowed
to sit on provided you do not interfere with the other competitors.

DRS......you need to get out more champ.......this top posting [censored] is
getting pretty boring. In an ideal world, everyone would bottom post,
online bike shops would put the customer first, all drivers would be
considerate, you would always get green lights, and every ride would be
downhill with a tail wind.
It is pretty obvious that this aint gonna happen my friend.......do us all a
favour and tolerate others in stoic silence (yes, I realise that I am
contradicting that last statement by posting this, but in my defence I have
tolerated your anti-top-post crusade in silence for long enough).
Half the time the person that you have a go at for top posting seems to be
pretty new to operating in newsgroups and hasn't got a clue what you are
talking about anyway.
