  1. hello,

I ride a specialized allez elite, the al. frame and have had the bike about a year. I have had a
problem where my bottom bracket makes a sharp creak when I torque on the pedals, such as if I'm in a
low gear and a low speed and try to accelerate quickly. I have removed the entire bottom bracket
assembly and liberally greased all the needed areas and the problem persists. Any advice?

    thanks, Rosco

Could be the sound is coming from something other than the bottom bracket. See the suggestions and illustrated methods on Park Tool's website at URL:

  3. try tightening your cranks down more. My guess is that you're cranks are not torqued to spec (quite
    a bit of force)

  4. If that doesn't work, try using teflon plumber's tape around the BB threads instead of grease. It
was the only thing that eliminated my new-found squeak.

  5. I've had this problem in the past, and no amount of adjustment seemed to help. It turned out the
problem was in the pedals. Not saying this is your problem, just don't rule it out.

I've had noises like this before that I though for sure was
coming from the crank but in fact were coming from the
pedals. Check the pedal bearings and re-pack and/or splooge
on the grease as necessary. Paint a little grease your clip-
    springs ( if any).
