Practice makes perfect, Dropped 30.
One can indulge lots of chocolate without harm by using unsweetened cocoa
powder and splenda/saccharine to make goodies.

a housefull of good real stuff. And I tried Hershey's sugar free chocolate -
it was plain nasty!!

Dropped, just like you, I love chocolate. Since I am on LC, I do not
eat sweetened chocolate. What I personally like is unsweetened
chocolate from the baking section. It is pure chocolate, no milk and
no sweeteners. A little bitter and chocolatey tasting, you might like
it, or you might not. One ounce satisfies me. It is much more
concentrated than cheap "milk chocolate", which is mostly milk solids
and sugar.--

I like that stuff too but this was Trick or Treating - I had a house full of
Kit Kats, Reeses PB Cups, Butterfingers, Nestles Crunch with and without
caramel, M&Ms, Krackle, Hershey bars, Almond Joy & Mounds.
It put me over the edge. Now there are only lolipops, and stuff I don't care
for - skittles, tootsie rolls, like that. It's down to a pumpkin bucket's
worth.
I didn't buy any - this was just the kids "take" from trick or treating

They aren't mine - I shouldn't have been eating them in the first place :o(
Or ZCarb bars or their new Zeroes--chocolate covered almonds.

ahhhhh... that's bad. ask the owner(s) to hide them from you... re-educate
yourself that chocolates in vast quantities is bad for you. train your
tastebuds to love only good chocs. this are all the suggestions I can think of.
I love chocolates too...

i've never seen these, do you know if they are available in the US? I looked
for them today.
Thanks-
They are available at Walmart and 7-11s and some Walgreens. Also online
www.zcarbbar.com They have a new one I haven't tried yet that sound yummy,
only available so far at 7-11s and on the website, Zenith, a chewy delicious
caramel bar covered in chocolate and loaded with nuts. Their items are all
made with erithritol and inulin, no ols, no gastric distress, and to me they
taste better than regular candy.

Ig, I remember that you posted this advice (probably to me) about eating
baker's chocolate a long time ago, and I tried it. The first time, I almost
couldn't bear the bitterness, but I've grown to like it. Now that I've
switched to a 'more liberal' version of low carb (doctor suggested that I
switch to South Beach so that I could start to include more
veggies/fruit/whole grains), I tried a piece of Hershey's Dark---you know,
the real stuff---from a bag of the miniatures. Well, I couldn't believe how
SWEET it tasted. I almost can't stand the sweetness in it! And, pre-lc, it
was my absolute favorite candy.
Go figure!

I've gotten rather attached to Scharffen Berger's milk chocolate, which
is really not as sweet as most milk chocolate, as it contains about 41%
cacao. They say that it contains less sugar than their semi-sweet. And
because it's so expensive, you're highly motivated to eat it slowly.
But this past week I also screwed up royally. My son had a party the
night before Halloween and so I even bought extra candy to have around
for it. I ate Skittles, Laffy Taffy, and basically everything else in
the house. By the end of Trick-or-Treating, I had eaten more candy in
one weekend than in the past three years combined. Now, I'm finally
getting over the headache and neck pain that has resulted from the
binge, and might be able to get back to my life again.
I wish I could just give out quarters like some strong individuals on
this list, but my children already feel like we have such a weird
household, I gave in to tradition. Maybe next year I'll just leave
town. Sigh.

I went trick or treating with my 6 year old nephew this year, and some
households were giving out trinkets instead of or in addition to candy.
Plastic spider rings, rubber bats, glow in the dark bracelets, pencil
topppers, and the like. He seemed to enjoy the toys more than the candy.
A couple of the kids I work with got fake vampire teeth when they went out,
and as of Thursday they were _still_ wearing them at school. Oh, every
Halloween Wendy's sells booklets of coupons for free frosties too.

I have only 3 flaws. My first flaw is thinking that I only have 3 flaws.

Well, that's good to know. Perhaps that would be a good way to go next
year. Vampire teeth, eh? Good idea.
Thanks,
Rebecca
The thing is, we get very few kids and every year I can take the extra candey
to work and make my staff very happy (My new secretary hoards Resses, I've
found). I'm not sure I want everyone who works for me wandering around in fake
vampie teeth next year. They're werid enough already.

Yup, my house was like that. And from other people eating the candy I once
loved, I could very much even smell the chocolate candy.
Before Halloween, though, I made sure I stocked up on alternatives for me.
I had my favorite Lindt 85% cocoa bars in the house. I even had a couple
bars of carb-special peanut butter cup candys (I don't usually go for the
sugar-alcohol stuff, but this was super on sale and I figured it would be
nice to have that option while being tempted with the real thing).
It worked for me. I didn't give in to eating sugar. And I'm very glad,
because I had whoosh that got me to where I am now. 🙂 So, just something
you might want to think about next time... make sure that you have your
"new" favorite sweet snacks ready and available.
I plan to use the same type of strategy when I go visit my brother for
Thanksgiving. I'm sure they will have things I can't eat. I'm planning to
take some of my favorite stuff with me so that I will have an alternative if
I need it in order for me to stay on plan. Most of the time, though, it
seems like I don't need it. As more time goes by without eating the bad
food, it seems like the better my self-control becomes.
