  1. Hey Pendejo,

Watch out for my buddy, pictured here at a race last year, a week after
    running a 2:45 marathon.

If you find yourself with him in the early going, SLOW DOWN!

I follow Karen's advice, I live vicariously, through him.

I'm glad you included the second picture. The first shot was distorted
by the web master and both of people looked short and bulky. I was about
to tell Lance-a-less, aka woe is me bulky BMI, that he has a chance to
play with the big boys when the second picture suggests a trimmer
    bodice.

You should be saying you live vicariously through your wife's ruinning.
    🙂

    -Doug.

P.S. if you don't run After The Leaves does that mean you won't be
    there?

In the first one he's wearing a helmet. Is he a "little bus" rider?
In the second he's falling over (the reason for the hemet?)

Obviously I'm not the Webmaster anymore.

I'm guilty of playing the BMI card myself, I did comment that I could
probably kick Asmae Leghzaoui's butt if they made her strap 90 lbs. on
her back at this year's Freihofer's Run for Women!

This guy should give Lance a run for the money in the BMI category
though, he ran 1:23 at the local half two weeks ago.

I will be there if we go, the whole family has been suffering from the
latest stomach bug over the last week so I'm not sure about any of us.

Sounds like I shan't be seeing him. Thanks for the warning though!

Did he really get bib 666 or are you speaking figuratively?

Yeah, no kidding. I initially thought this guy must be some monstrous
freak to run 2:45, let alone winning an xc 5k the next week, lugging
    all that around.

Doug, you gotta watch your typos when you're talkin' 'bout a man's
wife!! Sheesh! Don't make us force you to whip up an awk or sed
    script to fix your spelling!

Pendejo, who realizes he's still too fat at 143 because all his
coworkers thinks he looks "good" and "slim", not "sickly" or "near
    death"

He got 666 for real! I remember he also got the day and month of his
birthday at the 2002 Boiler Maker which was on his 40th bday. He ran a PR.

He is a freak, the guy he's spanking in that pic is a 4:30 miler.
But put him on a track and he literally freaks out!

I try but seeing someone run so well, at her age, seemingly effortlessly
makes it tough at times. I actually beat her in a string of races in
2003 but then I fell apart and have never been back to that level.
I get to rib the guys she beats though.

That's pretty good. My best high school race was in bib #69 (out of a
    couple thousand).

Oh gawd, not a techie! All that aside, ruinning is a perfect word. Thanks

That's some serious poundage. Go kick some at NYC.

  10. Surely, idolizing joggers is a sign of the impending apocolypse.

After a good string with no restaurant meals, make that an apparently
well-hydrated 141 this morn. And I dreamt of a fox last night!
Auspicious totem or mangy canid? I'm going with the former.

    Thanks, Dan!

Pendejo, realizing he's only getting this kind of attention this once
because he's a bit of an unknown quantity, nearly a marathon tabula
rasa, with few historical facts to get in the way of all the theorizing
    and projection

Is that the one in high heels who trotted after you the other day?

No, he prefers the 4 legged kind, in red coats.
But alas, all he can do is dream ...

BTW what burned *his* race? Splits of 1:23 and 1:31 would seem to
    suggest that something did?

I haven't had a chance to talk to him, I tend to think that he went out
with the idea of running a PR and just couldn't maintain it. Hills and
heat usually don't bother him so I'm guessing he just isn't back to
where he was last year. He's on the comeback from a stress fracture in
his shin last Winter. I know he's still had some pain in the shin
though I think he did have another bone scan this Fall that was negative.

I e-mailed him yesterday, he thinks he probably went out too fast and
also said the relative warmth of the day was a factor by mile 19.
He said he was generally satisified.
Sounds a lot like DR last year. 😉
