  1. I would love to go swimming, but I have one big problem. My body. It looks PATHETIC. It's all white
and scrawny and weedy. The thought of stripping myself down to trunks in public just leaves me with
a cold dread. I would be able to get away with covering my thighs with a baggy pair of trunks but
what about my top half? The thought of baring it........ I couldn't. I just couldn't. I guess I
could wear a T-shirt when swimming but I don't suppose this is ever done. I wonder if there are any
male swimwear items that cover the top half of the body?

Everyone is too busy swimming, and noone will even look at you. Baggy clothes are extremely
impractical when swimming for a workout. If not downright dangerous if you get tangled up.

I think this is a joke posting, but there are triathelon suits which will cover your upper body.
Most triathelets are thin on top from all of their swimming and biking, so they look like you
anyway. I agree with DaKitty, though, most people are too busy swimming or can't see because they
have no vision correction on or are distracted looking at other people to say "hey, look at the
skinny guy." If you are concerned about being pale, try a tanning booth.

It's no joke. I really do look quite revolting.

then stop looking at yourself, and get in the pool and start the workout. The sooner you build up
some muscle, the sooner you'll start liking better what you see.

You don't understand. There is just NO WAY I can do that. Call it a phobia if you want but the mere
thought of letting other people see my bare body makes me panic.

Sure I understand, I used to be 90 pounds overweight AND I'm a girl. How do you think people look at
    fat girls?

Oh, and if the thought of what you said gives you a panic attack, you need to see a shrink and work
through that, because it's not gonna get better by not doing anything about it, physically or
mentally. Either bite the bullet and jump in the pool, or go see a shrink.

Yeah right, go and see a shrink 🙂 I've being seeing shrinks all my life. I was bullied all though
my childhood because of my puny body. Home life was a nightmare. I had an alcoholic father who would
take delight in thrashing my frail little body. Night after night after night. Imagine being
constantly black and blue for about 4 years, that is what my life was like.

I know you mean well by saying I should see a shrink, but I've been there, done that, bought the
    T-shirt 🙂

Try a full-length wetsuit or Lycra skin. They're cheaper than the Fastskins, and cover as much body.

You and another 15-20% of the population. Your story is not that unique. Instead of making excuses,
seek out people who overcame it, and learn how they did it.

Well, in that case, I'm at loss as to what to tell you. Either do something to make it better, or
don't. You will reap what you sow.

But did you have to walk 2 miles to school every day in a blizzard, carrying your even fatter
brother on your back? On only one leg because the other got whacked by all the big meanie kids?

Really, really, you should read up on this childhood stuff before you come trolling here. Kids with
histories of abuse don't grow up to worry about what to wear to the beach.
