Cops: Bicyclist Strikes Traffic Agent

A bicyclist struck a traffic agent in Queens yesterday, causing the agent to bang his head on the
concrete and leaving him with serious injuries, police said.
The agent, whose name was not released, was tending to a victim of an assault at 3:15 p.m. on Queens
Plaza near the 59th Street Bridge, police said. The details of the assault were not immediately
available, police said.
The cyclist, who was riding off the bridge at the time, ran into the agent and knocked him to the
ground, police said. The agent, who was working with a partner, struck his head, police said.
The agent was listed in critical but stable condition at Elmhurst Hospital Center with serious head
injuries, police said. They said he had some bleeding in his brain, but was not likely to die.
The second agent was not harmed, police said.
The biker was expected to get a summons for failing to walk his bicycle through the pedestrian area,
