  1. Had not seen the CoolRunning discussion board in a while...have you
guys seen that lately? Is there a better one anywhere? All the
different sub-groupings (runners over 40, competitive, health clinic,
nutrition, etc.) I was blown away my past 2 days lurking over there.
Nice interface, robust participation...what's not to love over there?

In two days and scanning perhaps 50-60 threads....no troll subculture
existed. not a single one! gated communities do have their upside.
i'll check in for the boston marathon bib # roll call...however other
than that...i gotta go learn over at coolrunning.
googluck you guys and gals..stay healthy and be safe in your running!

easiest training log too, and since it's web based, you can make entries
from multiple computers. cool functions include recording routes and
distances so you can search and graph all your runs on a particular
route, comparing pace or time. or distance per week or monthly average
    pace or whatever you want.

Of course they do, they're sterile 'paradises' where you can pretend the
    real world doesn't exist.

Me? I prefer to grovel around in the mud and slime with only the
occasional glimpse of utopia. The mud will wash off but the views stay
    with you forever...

    Roger.

  4. Been thinkin of another place to go for a newsgroup.
    Thanks for the info.

  5. Yes Lancie, run off to a moderated BB, that is my plan.

Yeah, I'm in there a lot. (Which one is me is left as an exercise for
the reader.) The moderators get rid of trolls pretty quickly, except
in the almost-anything-goes Clubhouse, where it takes a bit of work to
get yourself on the sh!t-list. Lotta beginners and mid-packers, some
front-of-the-pack folks. Generally a supportive environment.

I drift in from time on the ultra group but it's very beginnerish. The
big ultra group, not coolrunning but listserve driven, is loaded with
heavy hitters and knowledge. It is also moderated so the juvenile dorks
we have here on r.r would be bounced immediately and forever.

I've had to go back to a kill file on r.r but once you parse out the
jerks it's a fun group with some diverse backgrounds in many types of
    running.

  9. Yeah, good luck with your steady diet of white bread. I'm sure that
    never gets boring.

C'mon now, white bread has a million uses. My fav is to peel the crust off of
three or four slices, and then wad it up in my hands, and compress it into a
hard lump of white cardboard. Then take Fido out for a walk, and play fetch. He
likes the fun and snack part, but it does bind him up for a few days.
My next fav is take two slices, put butter on both, then pour white sugar
between the layers to make a sandwhich.
    Write me for more recipes.

You must be Scottish. Generations of Scots have been brought upon the
sugar sandwich as a dietary staple.

Indeed I am, but you already know that. It's no surprise really, everyone knows
scotland is one of the most unhealthy places to live in the world (cholesterol
    wise).
