There are so many recipes with cool whip and dream whip!depends on which size you buy. there is 8oz. in a cup. i
think Cool Whip comes in 8oz. or 16 oz. cartons... i'm not
sure because it's one of those things i refuse to buy. any
recipe that calls for Cool Whip is probably immeasurably
better with real whipped cream 🙂
i know it sounds snotty, but stuff that is artificially
sweetened or made with artificial ingredients like Cool Whip
makes me ill. i *can* taste the difference & my body rebels.
on a related note, am i really the only person that can taste
the fake sugar aftertaste of Splenda? i've not met anyone else
that admits to being able to detect any difference between
Splenda & sugar.

leeThe only time I use Splenda is to sweeten coffee, but I usually take my
coffee black. Only very rarely will I ask for sweetener of any kind for my
coffee. So I can't say I can taste it because I rarely use it. Still, I
suppose if you must have sweetener and can't do sugar, it's better than
Sweet & Low. Now *that* I can taste... even in strong coffee.Jill

Well now......I prefer real whipped cream, but I am not adverse to using
Cool Whip on occasion. It is very convenient sometimes. I always have the
Vons generic version of Cool Whip in my freezer. Taste? Well, it is
different than freshly whipped cream, but the taste it tastes pretty good.
They are two different products and have different tastes. If someone is
trying to pass Cool Whip off as whipped cream, they are being silly. Cool
Whip is fine and tastes good for what it is. No reason to dismiss it just
because it is not "real" whipped cream.Charliam

Actually I meant I need to know how much real cream to use if a recipe asks
for 1 carton of cool whip. Sorry if I caused confusion, I don't think cool
whip is available in Australia. I'm going to substitute real whipped cream
for the cool whip."Jen" <[email hidden]> wrote in message

Can anyone tell me how much cool whip is in a carton? There are so many
recipes with cool whip and dream whip!Depends on the size of the tub. I believe it comes in 2-cup, 3-cup, and
4-cup plastic tubs in the frozen food section. And several variations -
light, non-fat, extra creamy, strawberry, and chocolate. Dream Whip is
a powder product that is combined with milk and beaten.

ok. i don't think i've ever seen a recipe containing Cool
Whip, but i'd substitute whipped cream by weighing on a scale.
is it safe to assume in recipes that call for something in
oz. they don't mean measured in a liquid cup (volume)?

I don't like it. I can *definitely* taste it. Still, it's the best of
the substitutes so far, I think.serene

tastes just like sugar." (Um, NO it doesn't!)-L.

why not one for sucralose?
not all kids react badly to artificial colors & flavors
either, so i suspect a genetic component there too.

Splenda gene for tasters and non-tasters because so many people say "It

sweeteners and would rather have things sweetened than to use the stuff. I
especially dislike diet pop. My mother cooks with Splenda because she is
diabetic. I have had some of the things she has cooked with it and to tell
you the truth, they were pretty good. She even made butterscotch pudding
with the stuff, and I didn't think that would be possible. It was good.
She has also served me apple crisp and fruit pies made with it. But it
still tastes like [censored] in coffee. -

It tastes like nasty vile chemicals to me too. I can also taste whatever
chemical they put on bagged lettuce and cilantro tastes like soap.Kathy
