Converting Trek 7300FX to trail bike

Does anybody know where I can go to get any help with this question? Maybe I am in the wrong location.

From what I've read elsewhere, your tire width is limited to about 35-38c. Meaure your actual clearance for a more accurate number.

I don't know anything about a fork swap on that bike.

Having 700c wheels I think you'd be limited on the range of off-road tyres you could get. Probably cyclocross ones but I don't know what types are available and for what type of terrain. Also, the wheelset might not be up to the pounding they might take on the trails. What kind of trail riding do you intend to do?

Im planning on just buying an entry level mtn bike like Trek 4300. I just wanted to know if it was going to be an easy swap or not. Thanks
