Converting 8spd Chorus to 9spd

AFAIK you should go to Campa 10 speed, after wich you should be able to shift Shimano 9 speed (after some adjusting!) as the difference between the Cogs is most akin between C10 and S9. This is indeed just a matter of replacing some parts of your ergo and readjusting your drivertrain.

You need a 9sp shift disk for the right shifter. Your existing rear
derailleur will work fine with a 9sp chain and a Shimano 9sp cassette.
I prefer using a Shimano 9sp chain but other chains do work too.

I asked my LBS and he said it can be done with a ten speed Ergo. With some fiddling it should shift a 9 speed Shimano wheel. But I didn't ask about going from 8 to 9 speed, but asked if you could shift a Dura Ace 9 with a Campa 10, so is there a problem with the compatibility between 8s Chorus Rear derailleur and a ten speed shifter? Otherwise I assume ten speed parts are easier to find?
