Checked out the site, thanks for the link. Unfortunately, probikekit have run out of conti rim tape. I am waiting for them to restock, as I have some other things to purchase from them.

There are so many tyres on the market. I think the next tyres I am going to try will be the attack force set.

I am currently using Michelin Prorace 2 on my road bike.

Oh I had read that water could get in via the pump valve, and cause the tape to rot. The conti rim tape is some sort of plastic I believe.

Thomas, I don't know where you are, but I got some from BikeForce in South Perth. (of course this info is of bugger all use if you are in Sydney/ Melbourne etc)

I am still waiting for probikekit to restock this item. I wonder how long they will take. I am planning to purchase a few items from them which will make the shipping costs worth while.

I had a look at those and they look good. I have a few velocity rims and will try them out.

Velox doesn't rot. It's been around for umpteen years and is tried and true. I also use Ritchey WCS tape which is a third of the weight and it's synthetic. I don't know wether this is still available though.

Hi Geoff,
Where do u get your rim tape? The criticism abt Velox is that when riding in the wet, the tape gets wet, and stays wet, which promotes rusting. I am not sure how true that is.

Could you let me know which shop sells Velox rim tape? Probikekit seems to take ages to replenish its stock.

I bought boxes of velox ages ago when I was building wheels. I swapped a pile of bike parts including most of my tape with John at Cycle Underground (02 9525 0778)in Taren Point. A large portion of pro built wheels used to use velox. It doesn't rot in wet weather. I used to do 15,000kms a year in all weathers and I've never had or heard of any problems. I have had Continental rim tape split and cause flats though when used at high pressures. 700c x 23 on a tandem means with our weight needs around 140psi.

I finally purchased my rim tapes. They seem to be some cloth like synthetic material. $11 for both wheels. So far no dramas.

I was keen to get the velomax, but they only had enuf for 1 wheel.
