Conflict resolution needed

websites. In any case, the parts won't screw in if they're
the wrong way round, would they?

The last BB was no help as it had two support rings, one
for each side.

The part attached to the bottom bracket goes on the drive
side and replaces the fixed cup.

I am assuming that the sticker points to the R and L,
facing the direction of travel with the sticker the right
way up does the R point the fixed metal support ? and is it
on the right ?

Well, anything's possible but is that likely? I don't think
so. Instructions (in general) frequently apply to something
totally different than what's in the box!

The last BB was no help as it had two support rings, one
for each side.

Help!!!!!!

Just take the support ring and try to gently start it off on
both sides (trying turning both directions). One side it
will screw in, one side it won't because it has the wrong
handed thread. Once you know which side that goes, the rest
is obvious

This will only work if its is an English BB Shell which I
expect a Dawes is. The same thought came to me in the
bath just now - Eureka ! Italian BBs have right thread on
both sides.

The BB is now fitted having discovered that:

1 the instructions were wrong 2 the sticker was right 3
italian threading would have resolved nothing 4 the
handedness of the shell sorted out the problem

If I'd done what I normally do, fit the item and several
weeks later, glance at the instructions, I would never have
had this problem!
