I'm rather pleased at having the day off today, I must say. Washing clothes,
drinking cider and idle bike fiddling. Most pleasant.

Dunno, don't know you. No offense :)

Do you have cleats on your current bike? If not then IMO that should be
one of your first purchases. My cycling coach is Caren at Start Line
Cycles. I know jack about cycling technique but she seems to know what
she's doing and my cycling's come on leaps and bounds. She's got an ergo
cycle thingy so you can rock up in your car if it's a bit too far to ride.

Heh, I didn't. We don't have trams in the UK, had them in Germany but I
didn't cycle there. So far I've skated down the road once at Exhibition
/ Swanston and twice at the bottom of Fitzroy Street / Esplanade.

I hate tram tracks.

It's nit just tram tracks that are treacherous when they're wet.
Anything metal.

Oh. You don't want to do that. Take it from me.

None taken. :)

Put it this way. My current pedals -- SPDs -- are around 9 years old.
:) (I need new shoes; the old ones are getting rather uncomfortable,
although they'll suffice until I can afford new ones.)

*nods*

Fortunately, for the most part, they're in the middle of the road where
cyclists *tend* not to be.

I remember as a kid when there was a tram driver's strike. The tram
tracks down the middle of Burwood Highway made a *wonderful* bike path.
