    Hey all! As the title suggests, i have a small problem. I have been looking for a new bike since i purposely trashed my canadian tire bike with various shed tools 🙂, now i have been saving for a couple of months and i put a downpayment on a GIANT WARP DS2, which is the lower model of the DS1. I have been reading MB action and they said it is cheaper to get the bike with the upgrades then buying cheap and upgrading later. I guess the difference between these two bikes are that the higher one has AVID disk brakes and ROCKSHOX JUDY XC fork. My question is, would it be worth it getting the DS1 and paying a few extra hundred? Or sticking with the good ol DS2 and upgrade later on. I was considering upfrading the fork and tires when i got the DS2 but i guess il get a bonus with disk brakes if i get the DS1... share your thoughts! it would be great if i could get some form of help here THNX A LOT!

    In my opinion it is ALWAYS best to buy the best bike you can afford.

    The upgrade bug often bites hard and upgrading forks, brakes etc gets very expensive if its done after you have the bike.

    I would spend the cash and get the DS1

    great! thanks a lot, i have been reading and i guess it would be wise to do so... So i am going to get the DS1 since it gets a better drivetrain, fork and diskbrakes, hell thats like 500$ right there!

    The largest thing i regret by getting a Warp DS3, is that I didn't have more money to spend (>$600) on a nice MB. I would like to upgrade to disc brakes and other things, but it is just not worth it.

    Yes, save up for the DS1!!!!!!

    As I think you've already concluded, buying the best you can afford is a much cheaper method then upgrading. Giant upgrades the components for a fraction of the cost of doing it yourself.

    If it were me, I'd go straight to a lighter full suspension then Giant's DS line (but I'm not trying to discourage you if your mind is already made up).

    thanks for the advice... Yes i have made my decision already, and done a load of research, it seems that the warp DS series is the best starter bike. I thought, since i'm getting into mountain biking, i might as well purchase a starter bike, if i really enjoy riding, and do it constantly, i will probably upgrade to a better, lighter bike in the future, but for now, i'm sticking with the Warp DS1...

    Ugh, only two more weeks till i get my baby, untill then, i'm stucj with reading magazines and riding an old raleigh road bike with a generator headlight its all good 🙂
