Computers, Cadence ? No Cadence ?

Shimano Flightdeck wireless. I definitely use the cadence. I usually have the display set to read both current speed and current cadence. Averages are nice for the end of the ride.

Cateye astrale 8 with cadence. At this point in my riding I am trying to increase my cadence. So I keep it on the cadence reading almost exclusively.

Can't say I really use it -- at least not often -- but it's cool to have that info there. You don't have to spend much or look hard to find a model which offers cadence, so, ya know, no big deal.

I'm a big fan of the cadence. I have an Astrale 8, and leave the cadence in the big display all the time. How much I use it? Climbing a hill I'll look down every once in a while to keep myself on track, make shure I'm where I want to be. I rarely look at the speed.

My road bike's computer has got a cadence function on it, but I never really use it... plus the multitude of extra wires annoys me.

I've now completed ditched the computer on my MTB though and it's quite liberating, just riding around rather than wondering how far and how fast. I can recommend it.

Astrale 8 on order w/Performance for a century... yet to see how much it'll get used because they won't freakin ship it.

Cadence is great for a few weeks/months. After that you pretty much know what your cadence is before you even look at the gauge. It's still useful to have to keep yourself in check.

Specialized Elite. Usually on current speed and current cadence.

I got a Cateye Astrale 8 and i love it, the cadence is actually pretty helpful, but not necesary.

After answering no to you poll, I went out and bought a cateye Astrale 8 the next day, something I have been planning on doing for a while. Thanks for you motivation there, It made me feel bad and lazy when I seen so many with and so little without cadence. And yes I plan to use it in my daily training. I hope it helps.

no cadance cheaper more simple and its not really important information

Vetta V100HR wireless with wireless cadence. I have it set almost all the time to speed with cadence as the secondary display. You also get the heart rate data on every instrument display. I think cadence is the most important part of your riding. I can usually tell when I need to change gears, but having the cadence there just reinforces it and helps train you.

I know what cadence is. I was just wondering how to use it(what is a typical average) does it go up as you get better??? How useful it is??

I pretty much leave mine on the speed/cad. window. I try to keep my cadence between 85 and 95. I find the computer helps alot esp. later as I get more tired.

A higher cadance on the road will transfer alot of the work from your leg muscles which use more oxygen and build up latic acid, to your lungs and heart, which as your fitness increases only become more efficent and stronger. It will also reduce the wear and tear on your knees.

Just getting back into cycling after a many year absence and knowing exactly squat about bike computers I have this one on order.

The main sell points for me were the night light, for those winter morning rides to work, and the cadence kit. I want to check it against my GPS when it comes in, but I'm having a little trouble locating a handle bar mount for a Garmin GPSMap 76. For the few times I actually plan to ride with the GPS, though, I really think a little electrical tape will do the trick.🙂

Astrale 8 w/Cadence.

I don't know what I would do with out it. It helps for exact workouts on the trainer when doing intervals. Although I always have it on display when I'm on the road, it really helps on the trainer.
