a brand name that you would recognize. This stuff has no brand the seller

Why make weight-training equipment out of aluminum rather than steel? For
any given load, the aluminum needed to support it is a lot more expensive
than an equally strong structure made of steel. It is lighter, sure, but
that shouldn't be important for static equipment.
