Well, what if they were? There is no shortage of different types of nematode worms, most of which will be completely harmless to humans.
It's a bit like saying "what if they were arachnids?" That /could/ mean a tick or a funnel web spider... or it could mean one of hundreds of varieties of tiny and completely harmless wee spiders as found in the UK.

Yeah - I agree: phones ringing in the hills are the pits - as are noisy groups of people!
I always take a phone (my wife insists in case the dog gets hurt - that's her story anyway) but I keep the damn thing off too!
I switch my phone on at 8pm BST for 15 minutes. If there's something *serious* happening with me or with my wife or kids on the other side of the Nort Sea we make a call. Nothing serious happened last June in the Lakedistrict, so guess what ? It made my wife very nervous :-) She tried to call me on the ferrie on the way home but there's no reception in a steel cage floating on the North Sea. Strange, innit ?

After that there is no way by wife is going to let me walk alone and she's now quite nervous of going off the beaten track when we're together (and she's a nurse!).
A nurse? That makes it worse. Almost her entire experience of any activity is seeing people who've been hospitalized for it. This will make her slightly hysterical about everything.
On the bright side, she's probably had no training in stats, so tell her that statistically you're safer 'cos you've had your accident and therefore won't ever have another.
The only other thing is to invent a mate to go walking with (she'll never be able to check up - no signal out on the hills), or go walking with someone you don't get on with (little/no conversation so it's just like walking on your own).

Most accidents happen within 10 miles of home - if I were you, I'd stop doing anything in the kitchen or garden (and hoovering is definitiely out - high possibility + electrics! ironing even worse if you have a steam iron...).
